Four youngsters from St Mary Magdalene Academy scooped gold medals at the annual Jack Petchey Foundation London Schools team finals on Saturday.

Kai Ghazi-Timms, Alfie Little, Kotaro Lam and Zack Genia-Hajithemistou won their three round-robin matches 5-3, 8-0 and 7-1 in the Under-11 boys’ section at the University of East London.

The Islington youngsters then claimed the title for their age group after successfully overcoming Kensington & Chelsea’s Fox Primary School in the final.

Little said: “We loved playing against other schools. It was a great event.”
