The second album under his own name - and while the Razorlight drummer’s offering isn’t bad, Company is still left wanting of that magic ingredient.

The former drummer of Noughties indie-rock stars Razorlight is continuing to plough his own furrow with this second solo album under his own name.

He’s got pedigree already, having co-written two of the ’Light’s biggest hits, America and Before I Fall To Pieces – and he’s recorded under the I Am Arrows moniker.

Despite this, Company sounds like Burrows is still trying to find his feet as a songwriter to be taken as seriously as he wants, judging by the album’s cover.

While he takes a fair stab at it, some of his lyrics stumble and the jumble of styles, none quite nailed, is almost distracting. The nostalgic ballad Stars In The Sky is a winner, and the crackly waltz of Maybe You entertains.

But his credibility is somewhat undermined on the cheesy Hometown.

Shaking The Colour and Keep On Moving On provide some stomp and swagger, but are in the minority among acoustic guitar and the odd string section.

Truth be told, not enough of Company reaches out, grabs your heart and squeezes it like it should.
