Mediterranean eaterie and coffee shop Caravan has already developed a sterling reputation among the diners of Exmouth Market, but now they’ve expanded their empire to the swanky new King’s Cross development.

Situated in the imposing Granary building, past the impressive new water feature, it’s a big old space, akin to a warehouse or loft conversion in New York.
And the place had a nice bustling atmosphere on our midweek visit, with a busy bar and groups of diners tucking in on the long tables.
The cocktail list is extensive and we chose a truly great Tommy’s Margarita and slurped happily away while considering our options.
The menu is divided into bread, meat and cheese sections, big plates and small plates, which looked about tapas size.
We tucked into a delicious collection of Spanish cured hams, served with tangy pickles, and after that we chose a couple of big plates. Having seen some delicious small plates emerge from the kitchen, on reflection I’m not sure this was the best choice.
But my lamb leg was fine – the meat was a touch on the chewy side but came with an intriguing and powerful anchovy butter and fluffy ratte potatoes.
The pizzas also looked great, and with such an impressive drinks and small platters selection, I think Caravan would be a perfect for a large group or work do.
