Twelve of the best seats will be auctioned off in support of Refettorio Felix

The annual Scotch Egg Challenge is back at The Canonbury Tavern this month.

More than 20 shortlisted chefs will be vying for the number one spot, including Gina Hopkins, 2017 winner and former head chef of Islington’s The Drapers Arms.

Competition founder Oisin Rogers is hosting, writer Joe Warwick will compere and the invited chefs will have their creations blind-tasted by judges including The Guardian’s Bob Granleese and Felicitiy Cloake, Restaurant Magazine editor Stefan Chomka and chef and journalist Lisa Markwell.

Twelve of the best seats will be auctioned off in support of Refettorio Felix. The community kitchen and non-profit fights food waste and helps those in food poverty in collaboration with the Felix Project. The challenge winner will prepare a three course meal at Refettorio Felix using the kitchen’s daily ingredients.

Four pairs of seats and four singles will give the winning dozen a taste of all of the competing eggs, with bids starting at 8am on Wednesday February 7 on eBay.

Even if you don’t get front row seats, the event is still open to all and free to attend from 7pm.
