Islington Assembly Hall will tonight play host to a performance of play about what it means to be a Muslim woman in the 21st century.

Charity Penny Appeal will stage Women of Power: More Than Just a Piece of Cloth in support of International Gender Equality.

The play has been crafted, and will be performed, by theatre group Once Upon a Family and stars poet Sukina Pilgrim. The all-women production “peers through the hijab to tell the real stories of Muslim women in the 21st century”.

It covers unique and diverse lives of the women themselves as they share their wisdom and insight with our young female protagonist before her wedding day.

Proceeds will go to the Women’s Welfare Campaign. Tickets are £5 and the performance starts at 6.30pm.
