A shopping trip turned into tragedy after a toddler was crushed to death by a bus in Essex Road.
The two-year-old ran into the road as her mum and nan watched in horror. They had just been to the Post Office near the New North Road junction.
Rescue teams freed the girl, who lived nearby off Essex Road, from beneath the 73 bus but she was dead on arrival at St Bartholomew’s Hospital.
Her mum, nan and the bus driver were being treated for shock.
Meanwhile, Stevie Wonder found the perfect way to relax after his recent concert tour. He paid a visit to Islington.
The singer went to Howland-West, which sold audio equipment in Eden Grove, Holloway.
General manager Keith King said: “The visit by Stevie was pre-arranged because he is not often in the UK.”
But despite staying at the premises for three hours, the legendary singer left without buying anything.
