A police officer was punched in the jaw while attending a house fire in Seven Sisters Road, Holloway.
Labourer George Wood, 43, pleaded guilty to assaulting Sgt Henry Newman.
Wood was upset as a family member had been taken to hospital after the blaze. He also owned part of the property.
When he tried to get back in, he was stopped by Sgt Newman and punched him in the jaw.
Magistrate Seymour Collins told Wood at North London Magistrates’ Court: “When a police sergeant stops someone from doing something, it is for some good reason. He didn’t want any unauthorised person to loot the place. Second, your life is worth a good deal more than any property.”
Wood was fined 25 shillings.
