Commuters in Highbury could have an easier journey now a bus route has been extended to their doors.
From July 26 the number 243 bus, which used to stop at the Nag’s Head, in Holloway Road, will go all the way from Barnet Hospital to Highbury Barn.
More than 700 people responded to a Transport for London (TfL) consultation, with around 89 per cent saying they were in favour of the move.
Local resident and former councillor Terry Stacy said: “As long as Islington Council make sure the buses stand properly, with their engines off, I think it’s a relatively positive move.
“It means we have a direct route to the Whittington hospital and it takes the pressure of the number 4 route, which is very unreliable and the bane of anyone’s life who uses it.”
