A man who spent 42 years working as an Islington Council caretaker has died.George Hollis was 66 years old when he passed away in August.
He first started work for the town hall in May 1971 on the King’s Square Estate, off Goswell Road, Finsbury, where his weekly wage was £3.03.
Next stop for Mr Hollis was the Westbourne Estate, off Jupiter Way, Holloway, where he was resident caretaker until he died.
He was both a father and grandfather, and is survived by his wife Linda, who he met when they were both 16 and married when they were 18.
