VETERANS Brian Jeane, Robert King and Ernie Welsh (pictured left to right) enjoy a free pint in honour of Remembrance Sunday.
City financier turned publican Steve Coxshall, who recently took over The Barnsbury in Liverpool Road, Islington, decided to honour the country’s war heroes by offering any medal-wearing veteran a free pint of real ale on Saturday.
He said: “When I was working in the City, it was all about the money. Now I’m following my passion and I thought this was a great way to honour our heroes.”
The Chelsea Pensioners brought a bus-load of pensioners to the pub and members of the Islington Veterans Association also turned out to make Mr Coxshall a member of their organisation.
