A man convicted of a grisly Islington double murder claimed he was being punished for continuing to claim his innocence.
“Fat Bob” Maynard said his recommended sentence was increased by seven years because he still denied involvement: 11 years after being found guilty.
Maynard said from his Isle of Wight prison cell: “I have retained my sanity by constant hope that this living nightmare would one day be relieved.”
Maynard, jeweller Reg Dudley and greengrocer Charles Clarke were convicted of murdering small-time crook Billy Mosely and Chapel Market stallholder Mickey Cornwall.
Mr Mosely’s head was discovered in a Barnsbury public toilet by a council worker.
