Campaigning kids marched on Islington Town Hall with their mums and dads to protest against cuts.
It was organised by Islington Council nursery workers and parents who were convinced some councillors were commissioning big cuts to under fives’ services.
The protesters, who called themselves Islington Under Fives Fightback, claimed councillors were looking to close four playgrounds and cut parents and toddler groups.
It said of the Labour-controlled authority: “The council should be fighting the Tories, not acting as their agents. If people had wanted their services cut they would have voted in a Tory council.”
Meanwhile, a 48-year-old man was arrested after a Finsbury Park girl, 11, gave birth.
He appeared at the Old Bailey on a rape charge but the case was adjourned for a month.
Prosecutor Brian Parker said the Crown wanted to spare the girl from the ordeal of giving evidence.
