Fifty people made an emotional visit to the spot where an Islington Council foreman was killed in a violent incident.

Dad-of-four Raymond Langdon, 32, was killed outside the Sun Hing takeaway in Essex Road. Two Islington men were in custody on suspicion of his murder.

Raymond, who worked for the council’s St Peter’s Street neighbourhood office, had called into the Chinese takeaway on his way home from a night out with friends.

Brave widow Vicky, 31, led the crowd to the spot where messages and bouquets were laid within a special cordon. Looking up at the restaurant and the pavement where her husband died, Vicky broke down in uncontrollable tears.

Raymond’s colleague, Thomas Wilson, told the Gazette: “I heard the news on television and knew it was Ray when the four kids were mentioned. He was a good chap and they were a lovely little family. We are all shattered.”
