An Archway man who stole a policeman’s motorbike after a drinking session was chased by the bobbie’s colleague – and found hiding underneath a car.
The 26-year-old, of St John’s Grove, had a post-work booze-up with a pal, 24, of Berriman Road, Holloway.
Afterwards, they “decided to go for a joy ride”, Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court heard.
They stole Pc David Davies’ bike in St John’s Way. They were signalled to stop in Highbury Grove at 3am by an officer, who gave chase as they abandoned the bike.
The older man, a labourer, was hiding under a car. The other, a warehouseman, was arrested at work the next day. He had only just come out of prison and was jailed for six months. The Archway man was fined £8.
