An eight-year-old boy died after climbing onto a “mechanical horse” tractor unit, driving it and then crashing it.
Michael Tridin, of Caldeonian Road, was found dead in York Way. He had been crushed between the wall and a door of the vehicle.
After going on a trip to the pictures. Michael came across the tractor in a railway yard linked to King’s Cross station.
He was found by Reginald Carroyal. The engine was still running and wheel still spinning.
St Pancras Coroner’s Court heard no key was needed to start the vehicle. Coroner Bentley Purchase ruled accidental death, saying: “He probably panicked and as he approached the wall opened the door. It has surprised me this happened, though all the entrances can’t be watched.”
