A 10-year-old Archway boy was pinned to a wall by a car after a learner driver who was behind the wheel “lost his head”.
Derek Ames, of Hornsey Lane, was hit by the car while on the footpath in Swain’s Lane, Highgate.
Although he was badly hurt, the hospital “did a marvellous job” during his six-week stay.
Four months on, brave Derek appeared at Clerkenwell Magistrates’ Court and described the incident: “The car came towards me and pinned me against the wall. Then it started to go back.”
Charles Barton, of nearby Croftdown Road, Highgate, was found guilty of driving without due care and attention at, having denied the charge.
He was fined £3.
