I am writing to you following up on your article “Islington drivers to be hit with triple whammy of extra charges” (Gazette, December 2), regarding the dramatic increase in residents’ parking permits from January 1, 2011.
Have you had many other people complaining, or do you have a sense of whether people are angered in the community?
I ask because I am furious about the situation, and want to know if many others feel the same.
My parking permit has gone up from 200 a year to 391, which is nearly 100 per cent. Three years ago, my parking permit was 85 per year.
This increase seems far too high to me, and clearly appears to be a way to generate revenue and not maintain a fair parking system. – Simon Whalley, Highbury New Park, N5.
