Two hundred people were evacuated from the Thistle City Barbican hotel in Central Street last night.
Part of a linen room on the fourth floor of the three-star hotel, which is six floors high, was damaged.
The entire hotel, near the Lever Street junction, was evacuated before London Fire Brigade arrived just after 9pm.
Four fire engines and 21 crew members attended. No injuries were reported and the blaze was under control 45 minutes later.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Gazette approached Thistle City Barbican for comment this morning but no one answered after being kept on hold for 15 minutes.
