King’s Cross will be transformed into an illuminated festival of light, music and art for four days this week, as London’s biggest-ever light festival, Lumiere London, hits the capital.
Between January 14 and 17, visitors will be able to explore King’s Cross, its historic and new buildings and spaces through 11 installations and projected artworks.
Among the highlights of the festival are a Circus of Light, a magical animation across the breadth of the repurposed Granary Building specially commissioned for the festival from Portuguese studio Ocubo, and Diver by Ron Haselden, a 17-metre light sculpture at the King’s Cross Pond Club.
Visitors will also be treated to Light Graffiti, an interactive installation that invites audiences to use torches on smartphones or other sources of light to paint onto their surroundings.
Lumiere London inspired food will also be on offer, at the Midnight Feast, in Lewis Cubitt Square from a host of food traders. Visitors will also be able to enjoy a ‘light’ aperitif in the Keller Bar, who will be serving up some warming cocktails for all to enjoy.
The festival is free to attend.
