An ill-fated housing group looks set to be given the boot at next week’s full Islington Council meeting.

The housing executive, which was formed in 2012, will be disbanded if the decision is given the nod at next Thursday’s meeting.

Since its inception the group has been plagued by problems.

Two members quit in the executive’s first few weeks of operation, and the council was criticised for plans to spend £6,000 of taxpayers cash sending the inaugural group on a countryside “jolly”.

Brian Potter, chairman of the Islington Leaseholders Association, said: “It’s wonderful, totally wonderful.

“The executive was never fit for purpose, and maybe now we can get some democratically elected champions to represent us.”
