Children making the difficult step from primary to secondary school were given a helping hand by a summer school programme in Holloway.

More than 70 new pupils attended Holloway School’s transition scheme, taking part in activities such as swimming, trampolining, art, ICT, design technology and cooking.

They were helped by older pupils who were specially trained as sports leaders.

Headteacher Bob Hamlyn said: “Our summer school has improved year on year and is a vital part of the successful transition from primary to secondary school. It’s one of the reasons we are one of most popular secondary schools in Islington.”
