A family were reunited with their beloved pet just in time for Christmas.

Cristiane Caldeef’s tiny chihuahua Penny went missing from her garden in Bracey Mews, Finsbury Park, on Tuesday, December 6.

Penny was found by a member of the public wandering around Hyde Park two weeks later and was taken to a vet who scanned her for a microchip and found her to belong to Ms Caldeef.

The mother of two, whose daughter’s were left devastated by her disappearance, believes someone had initially taken her in but left her in the central London park after reading an appeal for her return in the Gazette on December 15.

Ms Caldeef sent a heartfelt thanks to the woman who found Penny and said: “The kids are so happy. They were screaming and crying when she came home – Christmas came early for us. My little girl had been praying every night asking Father Christmas to bring her back”
