Fire fighters rushed to an Islington prison late last night (May 15) after a blaze broke out.
Three fire engines and crews raced to HMP Pentonville, in Caledonian Road, Holloway, at around 9.45pm after receiving a call from prison staff.
A Prison Service spokesman said: “A minor fire was detected and quickly extinguished by staff at HMP Pentonville at 9.30pm on Sunday 15 May 2011. The Fire Service was called and attended as a precaution.
“There were no injuries to prisoners or staff. The police are investigating the incident.”
