AARON Ramsey admits he is excited by the prospect of finally being able to link up with Jack Wilshere in Arsenal’s midfield.

Arsenal’s two young stars, widely regarded as the future of the club, have had limited playing time together so far, with Arsene Wenger choosing to loan both players at different times in order to aid their development.

But England’s match with Wales in Cardiff on Saturday offered a tantalising glimpse of the future, with Ramsey captaining the home side for the first time, and Wilshere providing the heartbeat of Fabio Capello’s midfield.

And Ramsey (pictured left) is eager to force his way back into the Gunners’ first-team alongside Wilshere.

“When I was playing Jack was on loan at Bolton, and then obviously when I had my injury Jack has been playing this season, so we haven’t had many opportunities to play together,” said Ramsey.

“Hopefully we’ll have that opportunity in the near future and I’m sure we could do well together.”

The 20-year-old also admitted his loan spell with home-town club Cardiff City earlier this season proved crucial to his rehabilitation as since the broken leg he suffered against Stoke City last season.

“It was nice to be back there [at Cardiff], it’s a club that’s done a lot for me,” added Ramsey. “I felt it was the right time to go back there and I did well when I was there. I played in six, we won four and we drew two so it was a good loan spell.

“The fans have been tremendous all the way through, and helped me get through it. Now I want to give something back to them and put in some good performances, and win the league at the end of the season.

“I want to become a regular in the Arsenal first team, I want to win trophies, qualify for something with Wales and obviously become a great midfield player,”
