STEPHEN Fry will be starring in a one-off performance of a nativity play with a modern twist at one of Islington’s top theatres.

He will appear in a charity staging of Star Child, by Patrick Barlow, alongside a top cast including Catherine Tate and Stephen Mangan.

The play, which is being put on in aid of the Art Room, will be at the Almeida Theatre for one night only on December 5.

Described as a “nativity play like no other”, it is a modern take on the nativity featuring a Mary who does not want her baby, a talking donkey, three wise women and a disgruntled God.

The Art Room is a charity offering art therapy to children and young people who may be at risk of exclusion from school, and uses art to raise their self-confidence and self-esteem.
