The trial of a cyclist accused of running over and killing a mother-of-two in Old Street begins today.
Charlie Alliston, 20, allegedly knocked down Kim Briggs outside The Reliance pub on February 12, 2016, during her lunch break. She died from a head injury six days later.
Alliston, of Trothy Road, Bermondsey, south London, denied a charged under the 1861 Offences Against the Person Act of causing bodily harm to Mrs Griggs “by wanton or furious driving”. He has since been charged with manslaughter.
Husband Matthew Briggs has previously described his wife as a “wonderful and much loved woman”. The couple lived in Lewisham.
He said: “My priority has always been to concentrate on supporting my children through this unbelievable heartbreak.”
The trial is being heard before Judge Wendy Joseph QC at the Old Bailey.
