Arsenal:

Petr Cech – 6: The experienced keeper is now nearing veteran stage. And it showed.

Hector Bellerin (right wing-back) - 6: Showed his trademark turn of pace to take his goal well. Worked hard defensively while offering support to his colleagues further up the field. Showing the type of form fans expect from the talented right-sided player offensively. Defensive he still has a lot to learn.

Rob Holding (right centre-back) – 6: What has happened to the confident, ball-playing defensive lynchpin he threatened to be following his excellent performances during last term’s FA Cup run and triumph? Looked hesitant and ponderous at the Vitality, a bad combination as every Arsenal fan knows he is capable of far more

Shkodran Mustafi (centre-back) – 6: Troubled by the pace of Ryan Fraser while lacking true leadership abilities to organise his defensive colleagues.

Calum Chambers (left centre-back) – 6: Good block from Ryan Fraser in the first half and competed well but how he could do with an experienced leader next to him talking him through games in terms of positioning.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles (left-wing-back) – 6: Lively start as he jinked to create space in the box before thudding a shot against the bar. Faded but you have to ask whether Wenger playing him on the left is doing him any favours – or more worryingly hindering his development.

Jack Wilshere (defensive midfield) – 7: Excellent performance even if he didn’t influence proceedings as much as he wanted. Showed bravery and character to play days after sustaining an ankle ligament strain. To think there may still be managers out there who would pick Jake Livermore over Wilshere in their team

Granit Xhaka (defensive midfield) – 6: Always willing at dead-ball situations and dovetailed well with Wilshere in defensive midfield but not the all-action midfielder many hoped for when he signed

Danny Welbeck (inside left attacker) – 6: Worked hard but denied space and time by the Cherries backline and suffered from a lack of possession

Alex Iwobi (inside right attacker) – 6: Assist for Bellerin’s goal. Also had a powerful shot well saved by Begovic but his lack of goals means he will always be a peripheral figure until he addresses that. At least he appeared to have had a good night’s sleep in the build-up to the match this week

Alexandre Lacazette (centre-forward) – 6: A quiet performance from a talented player who has hit the ‘wall’ in his first season in English football. Needs a week or two’s rest but with the amount of important matches coming up he simply won’t get a much-need break
