England manager Gareth Southgate has included Arsenal trio Aaron Ramsdale, Ben White and Bukayo Saka in his World Cup squad, along with Tottenham's Harry Kane and Eric Dier and West Ham United's Declan Rice.

Southgate revealed his 26-strong party for the tournament in Qatar, where England take on Iran, the USA and Wales in their group.

But there was no place for Hammers forward Jarrod Bowen, who won four caps during the Nations League earlier this year, as in-form James Maddison (Leicester City) and Callum Wilson (Newcastle) received call-ups instead.

"We wanted to make sure we got the balance of the squad right," said Southgate, who led England to the semi-finals in 2018, when they lost to Croatia, and the delayed 2020 European Championship final, which they lost on penalties to Italy, last summer.

"I think in this day and age the squad is more important than ever. Different options for matches and for difference stages of the tournament as well.

"We've had to cover players who aren't fully fit, but we think the balance is there and we've got cover in the positions we need."

Mikel Arteta's Gunners currently sit at the top of the Premier League table, but the season will pause after this weekend's games and resume on Boxing Day, as England head to the Middle East to prepare for their first game on November 21.

Manchester City have the most representatives in the squad with five, as Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Newcastle have three each, Everton, Liverpool and Tottenham two apiece, with Borussia Dortmund, Leicester and West Ham supplying one player each.
