A passenger claims it was a “miracle no one got hurt” as a bus was mere seconds away from crashing into a block of flats.

Pictures show a 141 bus had collided with a fence and hedge outside the flats in Green Lanes yesterday (June 13) at 6.28pm.

Metropolitan Police says officers were called to reports of a bus colliding with a building, with emergency services rushing to the scene.

The driver was treated at the scene and taken to hospital as a precaution, with no other reported injuries to passengers or any pedestrians.

Shortly after, a cordon was put in place that remained for hours.

One person, who says they were a passenger on the bus, has claimed the bus driver fainted due to the heat and “regained consciousness soon after the crash”.

This claim has not been confirmed, and a Transport for London (TfL) spokesperson said they would not speculate on the cause of the crash as an investigation is being carried out by Arriva.

The passenger wrote on Facebook: “I was on that bus and it was an absolute miracle that no one got hurt inside or outside the bus.

“The bus driver fainted because of the heat but regained consciousness soon after the crash and only had a few scratches!

“Everyone else in shock but all fine."

Tom Cunnington, head of bus business development in TfL, said: "Our thoughts are with those involved in a collision involving a route 141 bus and a property in Manor House.

"We recognise this incident will have been distressing for those involved and there is support available through the Sarah Hope Line for anyone who needs it.

"We will be working with the operator, Arriva, to carry out a full investigation and support the driver involved.”
