A new Argentinian fast food restaurant is kicking off in style by giving away delicious empanadas with a tattoo of Maradona or Lionel Messi.

De Nadas in Shoreditch has teamed up with local parlour East Side Tattoo to reward the first five people through the door on Thursday (July 20) who utter the immortal line ‘power of the empanada’.

They will recieve two free pastries and a voucher for a tattoo - on condition they choose to be inked with either the two legendary footballers, or an empanada.

A further 145 new customers who arrive from 5.30pm will be gifted two free hand-shaped empanadas with either meat, vegetarian or vegan fillings.

The outlet on Rivington Street is a sister to London's first dedicated empanadaría on Golborne Road, West London, which serves 15 different pastry turnovers stuffed with the likes of classic beef, ham and cheese, chorizo, blue cheese and pear, Malbec onions and smoked cheddar, spicy lamb and vegan kale and squash.

Shoreditch customers will be able to order one of their popular Monday to Friday lunch boxes with empanadas and salad, or take home boxes of six, nine or 12 empanadas. There are also six seats to enjoy some empanadas over a glass of wine - with Argentinian Malbec a perfect match.

The Argentinian street food snack is a national obsession, enjoyed on both street corners and in top restaurants. De Nadas empanadas are made with Argentinian dough - baked not fried - and the owners hope to give the national dish the status they deserve in the UK.
