Three people were forced to flee a five-storey building after a fire broke out in a flat.

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a blaze in Arundel Square, Islington, just after 8.30am yesterday (August 31).

A flat on the third and fourth floors of the building, as well as a section of the internal staircase, were completely destroyed by fire.

Three people left the building before the London Fire Brigade arrived, and the fire was extinguished just before 10.30am.

Crews from Islington, Holloway, Euston, Kentish Town fire stations attended the scene.

A fire brigade spokesperson said that the cause of the fire is under investigation.
