A Venetian restaurant is set to start serving breakfast to customers for as little as £1.

The Italo’s in Goswell Road, Angel, opened earlier this year, and hopes to expand its offering in the near future.

Owner, Clark Manwar, was born in Bangladesh in 1984 before being adopted by an Italian family in Venice at the age of 10.

He moved to London in November 2020 to live closer to his wife’s family, and quickly decided to bring Venetian food to the capital.

Currently, the restaurant offers traditional Italian dishes, including pasta and pizza, as well as steak and fish options.

But Manwar hopes to open for an Italian breakfast, serving, among other options, Sicilian cannoli, Venetian tramezzini and paninis.

While the menu has not yet been finalised, Manwar claims that the breakfast will start from just £1.

Manwar also told Islington Gazette that the pizza at The Italo’s is “unique” and different to other restaurants in London.

He said: “We invented our dough. Our dough rises for 72 hours and… our pizza is really unique and special – soft, crispy, and at the same time the dough is really tasty.”

Manwar added that he started the business “not only for money” but also because of his love of food.

The Italo’s is located at 366 Goswell Road, and is open from 8am until midnight on weekdays, and from 9am until midnight at weekends.
