Christmas at Kenwood got off to a starry start with a galaxy of celebrities turning out on a damp, chilly night to explore the illuminated trail.

Local Hampstead and Highgate faces on Wednesday (December 6) included Dermot O'Leary, Richard Madeley and daughter Chloe, Myleene Klass, Fay Ripley, Vanessa Feltz, Nicole Appleton and Gaia Wise - many joined by their families.

Actor Jamie Borthwick, broadcasters Lauren Laverne and Chris Moyles, choreographer Arlene Phillips, BBC presenter Tina Daheley, and journalist Louis Theroux also followed the path around the Hampstead Heath attraction.

The brand new trail at the English Heritage mansion was created this year by Kilimanjaro Live and included more than a dozen installations, several with an interactive element.

There were buttons to press to shoot light beams at trees, change the colour in giant bubble tubes, or light up orbs strung along Kenwood's famous Lime Avenue.

There was also a playful element with a giant illuminated cube and a Christmas present, and Kenwood spelled out in glittery lights that riffed on the iconic Hollywood sign in LA not to mention plenty of spots to take selfies.Islington Gazette: Myleene Klass was among the Hampstead and Highgate faces to turn up to the celebrity opening night at KenwoodMyleene Klass was among the Hampstead and Highgate faces to turn up to the celebrity opening night at Kenwood (Image: Christmas at Kenwood)
