Two drug dealers have been jailed after a covert police operation.

Detectives from north London carried out the investigation, which identified a group of men running a drugs network across Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Islington.

Syed Emdad, 25, of Wyke Road in Hackney Wick, and Mohammed Ashar, 23, of Shandy Street in Stepney Green, were found guilty of drug offences after a trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court.

They were jailed for more than 11 years yesterday (February 7).

Three other men from Tower Hamlets were also jailed as part of the police investigation.

Detective Superintendent Mike Cagney, from Tower Hamlets and Hackney police, said: “We have listened carefully to those who live and work in this area about the very real impact drug dealing and the associated antisocial behaviour has had on them.

“Our extensive investigation has led to a total of five men being sentenced and we will continue to work with our communities and partners to disrupt the supply of drugs on our streets.”
