A mob of Algerian football fans lit up north London streets with flares and fireworks after their team won a semi-final.

CR Belouizdad defeated USM Alger 3-1 in penalties for the Algerian Cup semi-final yesterday (April 24) - and the aftermath was felt as far away as Finsbury Park.

Footage shows the moment that a large crowd of fans took over Blackstock Road and Ambler Road at around 8pm, with the streets lit up in orange and engulfed in smoke from flares.

Chanting fans waved flags and launched rockets and other fireworks, with some appearing to swing flares.

The Metropolitan Police said that officers attended and the group dispersed after reports of people setting off flares and fireworks in the vicinity of Ambler Road.

A spokesperson said there were “no reports of any injuries”.
