A man from Islington has been charged in connection with a burglary in Stevenage.

Micheal Byfield, 33, of Bath Street, was arrested on the morning of April 18 by police in Hertfordshire.

It came hours after a burglary and an attempted burglary in Stevenage.

Multiple items were allegedly taken from a home in Stanmore Road, including car keys, a BMW, laptops, air pods and other personal items.

Police have said that the attempted burglary took place in Walkern Road.

Byfield is now due to appear at St Albans Crown Court on May 21, alongside co-accused Ben Williams, 32, of Letchmore Road in Stevenage.

The 33-year-old has been charged with burglary and taking a motor vehicle without consent, and has been remanded into custody.

Williams has been charged with burglary, attempted burglary and taking a motor vehicle without consent, and has been released on court bail.

Investigating Officer Detective Constable Chris Jones said: “As part of our ongoing enquiries we are keen to speak to anyone who saw a blue 64 plate BMW 2 series being driven in the Old Town area of Stevenage in the early hours of April 18.

“We would also like to speak to anyone who witnessed two men behaving suspiciously in Stanmore Road, Letchmore Road or Walkern Road.”
