A 34-year-old man has been jailed after he killed a Suffolk woman in a head-on crash.
Holly Lucas, of Park Avenue in Newmarket, died when her blue Toyota Yaris was involved in a collision with a silver Honda Accord on the A1303 at Stow cum Quy on Friday, June 10.
On Wednesday, April 24, Iurie Ciumac was jailed for five years at Peterborough Crown Court after he pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving at an earlier hearing.
Following the case, Holly's mother read out a statement that said: “Losing my beautiful daughter Holly, in such a senseless and tragic way, has left all who knew and loved her in deep grief. Holly was a vibrant and compassionate young woman, newly married, with a glowing future.
“It has taken nearly two years to finally have some justice and have some level of closure. We can now move forward and remember Holly for not how she died, but for how she lived.”
DC Paddy Reeve said: “Ciumac’s dangerous driving has cruelly taken away Holly’s future so I am glad he is behind bars. This case should serve as a reminder to people to drive with care as the dangers of not are clear to see.
“Our thoughts continue to be with Holly’s family and I hope this sentence gives them a little bit of closure.”
The 34-year-old of Copsewood, Werrington, Peterborough, was also banned from driving for five years.
