A Norwich man who drank two bottles of wine before getting behind the wheel of his car spat at police officers called to the scene.
Scott Laxton, 40, was found slumped in the driver's seat with the engine running after he had been reported on March 20.
Norwich Magistrates’ Court was told he failed to take a roadside breath test despite being given four opportunities.
Prosecutors said he had a previous drink driving conviction from 2021 and was currently subject to a community order.
Laxton, of Wroxham Road, pleaded guilty to assaulting an emergency worker and failing to provide a specimen. He denied a separate allegation of assaulting a woman.
The court was told following his arrest he had lost his job as a sales manager that required him to drive 40,000 miles a year.
Rachel Buck, mitigating, said he had consumed the alcohol while waiting to be picked up.
Magistrates banned him for 16 months and fined him £120.
Sentencing for spitting at police will follow his trial for assault at Great Yarmouth Magistrates’ Court in January next year.
