At last! The Smurfs have their own train to travel up to the bonny Highlands.

It left full steam ahead out of King’s Cross station — well, not actually using steam power — with its eye-catching design on the side of the all-electric train to celebrate the new Smurfs animation film released on July 18.

But there was nothing animated about it, a very real main-line express unveiled by Lumo train company — and it’s blue, of course.

An all-star guest list was on board, including Rylan Clark who voices ‘Vanity Smurf’ in the movie.

The train headed up the East Coast main-line to Edinburgh for a Smurfing day out in Scotland.

The Smurf Express is now on a regular run between King’s Cross, Stevenage, Newcastle and Edinburgh.

The eco-conscious Smurfs have been ‘adopted’ by the rail company which claims to be the first operator with fully-electric trains on all its routes that are “25 times cleaner the same journey by air”. Smurfs don’t like flying anyway.
