Dementia sufferers were treated to an Olympic dinner at a charitable Highbury pub.
Alzheimer’s patients ate shepherd’s pie and macaroni cheese at the Highbury Barn in Highbury Park as part of a series of social events by healthcare provider Care UK in partnership with Islington council.
Debbie Mclean, who manages the Care UK dementia nursing and residential centres in Islington, also set up a London 2012 Games-themed picnic and “jerk fest” among other events.
Debbie took inspiration from a patient who recalled having an Olympic themed dinner in the past. The hope was to create a nostalgic party to spark some of her and others’ memories.
