Kids in Archway have been getting stuck into their new £500,000 play area after it was officially reopened on Saturday.

The transformation of Archway Park began in December. The old playground and ball court were ripped up and replaced with new state-of-the-art equipment – including a massive new slide.

Islington’s environment chief Cllr Claudia Webbe said: “The new facilities are excellent and there is now something for everyone to enjoy, providing a safer, more valuable and accessible community asset.

“By listening to residents, we’ve been able to do so much more. There’s always been a huge super slide and we are so pleased to have been able to retain this historic feature.”

There is also now a concrete table tennis table, seating, a footpath across the park and improved lighting. It was funded by the council, the London Marathon Trust and TfL.
