Arsenal boss Unai Emery told the Islington Gazette he is proud of his players after their performance in the 2-2 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening. Read on for much more from his post-match press conference.

On the performance - Opportunity missed or a good point?

I am very proud for our work and how every player responded in the 90 minutes.

When we are winning it was a good moment but they equalised very quickly.

The second half I think our players worked to win. We were close more than them to get the third goal, but De Gea made two or three good saves.

On the injuries to Holding and Ramsey

This is the worst news for us today.

Rob Holding we are going to wait for the doctors, but it is a big injury. It’s his knee.

Aaron I think it is a small injury.

After these two injuries every player went out with good commitment and good mentality to keep our performance on the game.

We couldn’t control the game like we want for the full 90 minutes, but today will give us confidence I think. This draw is not the best, but not the worst. I think it will be good if we win against Huddersfield on Saturday. I said to the players now we need to finish this week well [against Huddersfield].

First we have a good rest after today because the players finished very tired, but that’s normal after Sunday’s match against Tottenham which was very demanding physically.

Do you feel frustrated?

Not frustrated, I feel very proud of the players.

It was a good match for every supporter, their supporters and our supporters. Two high quality teams. For persons who love football, it was a very good match.

Was United’s first goal offside?

I know VAR is coming, when it’s coming it can equalise something like these difficult decisions for the referee.

I know maybe to was offside, but it was every difficult because the action happened very quickly. Sometimes it is for us, sometimes it’s for the opposition

I think the referees decision is not important today for the result today. If one team deserved to win, we did more.

Should Rojo have been sent off?

I don’t know. It’s difficult for the referees.

I know here the referees have a lot of personality, I respect their decisions if they are OK or not OK.

What did the performance say about your team, coming so soon after the Tottenham game?

Away, our challenge is to come to teams like United and I think today our response was positive.

We are getting a better competitive team, I think our spirit also is good. We got up after two draws [conceding two equalisers] in the 90 minutes and we found the victory every time.

Usually United create a lot of chances here and I think we didn’t concede a lot of chances to score.

I think for us to take confidence, today was very positive.

On Koscielny’s return

Laurent is very close to playing.

He played two matches for the U23s, the last on Tuesday, we are thinking he will start with us soon.

I don’t know if Saturday is a possibility. We are thinking the Europa League against Qarabag is a possibility.
