Arsenal boss Unai Emery has been speaking ahead of his side’s Europa League clash with FK Qarabag at the Emirates on Thursday evening. Read on for the transcript of what he said.
Emery on Ozil...
After his injuries he is OK. He’s in the group for [Qara We need also him to help us with his quality and [Qarabag] is the first match after his injuries he can help us.
Emery on selecting Maitland-Niles...
He’s coming back after a big injury. He’s training every day with good commitment and good behaviour. We need to look at him on the pitch. His performance is getting better every day in training but also we need him in the games like tomorrow. He played in Kiev with a good performance but we also need him to continue to take more rhythm and more confidence which can push him with his quality.

I need to look at him more playing matches and I think Qarabag is a good day for him and for a lot of players. We are first in the group but we want to win the game also with a good performance and with players who can help us and take rhythm for matches coming up. He can help us. For me, he is a right-winger, a right-back, sometimes a left-back or a left-winger. Tomorrow we are going to play with him at the beginning...[sounds like at LB but this bit doesn’t make much sense]”.

We need to use different options. We can do a big performance with the two formations in each game. Tomorrow maybe we can start with four and finish with three. For the next matches the same because for example in the last match against Huddersfield we started with three centre-backs and then we finished the second half with two. It depends also how we are with the players and how we can take our performance better with the two different ideas.
Emery on Calum Chambers...
I don’t know if this possibility we can do. I think if we can take one player to help us at centre-back, I think it’s a good option. The transfer is not easy and the possibility with Calum is maybe one option but I don’t know if we can do that. Koscielny is coming back and for the team it’s very important he is coming back and then we are going to wait and see how Mavropanos is improving with his injuries, because he is also a centre back who can help us. Another option we can play with two, with three, Nacho Monreal and Lichtsteiner can play in this position. I prefer to use, if we can, a specific [specialist?] centre-back.
On Koscielny - How impressed have you been with him in recent weeks behind the scenes?
He is our captain and also we have other players who can take responsibility. But I think his experience and the respect everybody has for him is very important.
He spoke to us in the match against Tottenham because he is close with us, he is training every day with us and also he has played a lot in these derbies. But every day is very important with every player and now Koscielny I think can help us in the games and tomorrow is the first because we decided in his planning for him to start with us in the game. I am looking forward to him helping us with his performance and experience. But I think every player is very important but especially him as he is our captain.
