Arsenal and Manchester United are reported to be interested in Aston Villa’s former Biggleswade Town striker Keinan Davis.

The pair of Premier League giants have been impressed with the form of the promising youngster who has been a revelation this season and are circling the England under-20 international who made his debut against Switzerland in September.

Both Arsenal and United have sent scouts to watch the talented young player on numerous occasions since the all-action forward – with a bulldozing-style allied with pace and a good technique – has started to bully second tier defences this season.

The Stevenage-born 19-year-old spent 2014-15 at the Lamex before being picked up by Biggleswade Town under-18 coach Dave Northfield at the start of 2015-16.

Davis was scouted after playing for Biggleswade Town under-18s against an Aston Villa youth team and after a four-week trial in signed an 18-month contract in December 2015.

His form for Steve Bruce’s side this term has been a revelation after he emerged from the under-23s, netting two goals in 11 league appearances after making his bow in the Championship in August during a 4-2 win against Norwich City.

The highly-rated starlet has attracted the attention of Old Trafford boss Jose Mourinho and long-serving Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger with Bruce admitting Davis has a big future.

Speaking directly to this reporter at St Andrew’s after Sunday’s Second City derby ended goalless between the two fierce Midlands rivals Bruce hailed his young starlet, saying: “I thought Keinan made a difference.

“He came on and gave us a physical threat up the pitch.

“When you’ve got that, use it. He’s mobile and has a big future.

“He can only get better as long as he keeps his feet on the ground – but certainly he’s had a meteoric rise.

“Only a few months ago he was at Biggleswade so we have to look after him.”

Davis has been rested before the derby but nearly won the game for the 1982 European Champions with a drive which smashed the underside of the bar.

Bruce added: “There’s going to be times where I have to look after Keinan.

“The young ones will go up and down.

“I detected in the last couple of weeks that Keinan is only a boy and he was exhausted last week.”

*Biggleswade FC was founded in May 2016, months after Davis signed for Villa, after the hugely successful Biggleswade Town U18s side reached the climax of their development there and elected to branch out into their own organisation, rather than break up such a talented young team.

Under Northfield and Mark Inskip the young Waders – who ground-share with Biggleswade Town – have continued to progress, clinching the Spartan South Midlands League Division One title in 2016-17 as the squad made the transition from youth football to professional football with ease. Just like former team-mate Davis.
