Gunners boss Pedro Martinez Losa wants his players to ensure Manchester City Women have an off day when the teams clash in the Continental Cup on Sunday.

Losa is looking for revenge against City, who beat his side to win the trophy in last year’s final and also triumphed 3-2 in their Women’s Super League clash with Arsenal just a month ago.

“Manchester City have shown fantastic form in the last few weeks, but they will have a bad day,” said the Arsenal boss. “We all have bad days in professional football and our job is to try to make them have a bad day.

“The fixture brings back great memories of last season’s final but both teams are now completely different. The league is more competitive and the teams are more competitive.

“We’re going into the game in a good run of form in the competition, with a 100 per cent success rate. We have to believe that Arsenal are capable of beating any other team in England.

“A few of our players have played alongside the City players at international level and that will help us a lot because we know almost everything we need to know about them.”

Losa used the Continental Cup group stage to give opportunities to a number of the younger players in his squad, including Lotte Wubben-Moy and Chloe Kelly.

Nevertheless, the Gunners won every one of their fixtures in a group that also featured Chelsea, who are currently favourites in the race for the league crown.

“It’s a pleasure to see how the senior players and those with more experience are fitting in the group and helping the younger players,” added the Spaniard.

“We get the best of both worlds because some players are bringing a freshness and new ideas to our training sessions and games while others are bringing that high intensity which comes with experience.

“We wanted to do well at home this season and this is probably our biggest fault. We want to give our fans good results but this is also dependent on our top players recovering from injury.

“When you have four or five players injured for a long time, it makes things a little more difficult in terms of talent and the penetration in the final third.”

Sunday’s quarter-final tie at Meadow Park, Borehamwood, kicks off at 2pm, and tickets will be available on the turnstiles, priced at £6 (adults) and £3 (concessions).
