Arsenal writer Rosie Tudball studies the club’s 2018-19 Premier League fixtures after it has been revealed Unai Emery’s introduction will begin with a visit from Champions Manchester City on August 11.

Emery will be expected to hit the ground running, as a trip to Stamford Bridge falls a week after the visit from City, as Chelsea host the club’s second game of the season.

After the initial shock of a challenging start, as an Arsenal fan my eyes were immediately drawn to the North London Derby. Emery will get his first taste of the fiery fixture at the Emirates, as the Arsenal host Spurs on December 1.

The Gunners will get their first opinions of Tottenham’s new home on March 2, as we take the short journey to N17 in the new year.

Notable fixtures are the ones against ‘the big six’.

Arsenal host Liverpool on November 3 and make the challenging trip to Anfield after Christmas on December 29.

It’s painful to mention the fact that we haven’t won a league game at Old Trafford since 2006, something that will hopefully be changed by Emery on December 4.

If history repeats itself, Arsenal will have a chance at redemption on March 9 as Jose Mourinho’s team visits the Emirates.

With a London derby against Chelsea coming in the second match week, we will host the blues in the new year on January 19.

On the subject of derby’s, there’s a new representative from the South West of the capital as Fulham gained promotion. Arsenal face the new boys on October 6 at Craven Cottage.

Newly promoted Cardiff City and Wolverhampton Wanderers will be new opposition, a trip to Cardiff on September 1, and on November 10 we will welcome Wolves to North London.

Then come the games we fear, the bogey teams. We were lucky that our beloved Stoke City dropped down to the Championship, along with another away trip that we could do without in Swansea. The annual upset at St Mary’s is still possible, as the Arsenal travel to the south coast December 15.

The final game of the season is a difficult trip to Turf Moor to battle it out with Sean Dyche’s high fliers on the final day.

After last season’s narrow 1-0 victory will there be another controversial last-minute winner on May 12?

Only time will tell...
