It was a good afternoon for Reiss Nelson as the England U19’s beat Hungary 4-1 with the Arsenal starlet grabbing a brace.

The talented youngsters launched their Elite Round of qualifiers after an emphatic second-half showing in Macedonia.

It was a good day all round for the Gunners as Eddie Nketiah and Joe Willock also started.

Yet the match was not all plain sailing for the Young Lions as they went a goal down in the first half, as Zsombor Bevardi converted from Hungary’s first shot on target against the run of play.

However Paul Simpson’s team came out all guns blazing in the second half, scoring two goals in six minutes after the interval.

Mason Mount levelled the game three minutes into the second half. The Chelsea youngster - on loan at Vitesse - thrashed home a loose ball in the box to make it 1-1.

Mount’s goal inspired England, as they took the lead minutes later. As Nelson doubled the tally with an unstoppable strike to cancel out Hungary’s first half display.

England missed a number of chances to extend their lead. Competition top scorer and Arsenal striker, Nketiah almost got his name on the score sheet but shot wide.

Nelson showed his class on the big stage again, as England’s goal-getters Mount and Nelson combined for England’s third. Nelson the scorer once more.

Mount was amongst the action again a minute later, threading Borussia Dortmund talent Jadon Sancho through to make it 4-1.

It was a good days work for England, an impressive display from Nelson gave the Young Lions a needed first win in the qualifiers.
