Arsene Wenger gave a tantalising glimpse of his future plans by revealing his will let fans know ‘very soon’ – as his Arsenal side were outclassed by Tony Pulis’ West Brom 3-1 at the Hawthorns today.

Wenger speaking immediately after watching his team being outplayed by a vibrant Baggies team that saw former non-league defender Craig Dawson net twice, with Welsh Euro 2016 hero Hal Robson-Kanu strike 120 seconds after coming on as a second half substitute.

Although Alexis Sanchez equalised Dawson’s first goal moments after Arsenal were a clear second best throughout the game – which saw two planes chartered by Gunners fans fly past in the opening stages.

On being quizzed on his future a weary looking Wenger replied: “You will know very soon”. On being pressed when exactly he replied: “Not in the international break.”

Wenger also defended his players despite the majority of the side looking out of sorts as he insisted: “There was no sign of a lack of attitude from my players.

“We are in a unique bad patch where we lose game after game.”

With Arsenal losing their last two league games 3-1 at Anfield against Liverpool and now at the Hawthorns, and with only one win against Premier League opposition since the third week of January, pressure is mounting on Wenger and the club to make a decision on his future soon.

The win for Pulis’ eighth placed team in today’s early match saw them pull to within seven points of Arsenal in fifth place before the 3pm kick offs – which could see Wenger’s men fall further behind the race for the top four.

He added: “I know what I will do – you will know soon, very soon.

“You will see. We are in a unique bad patch we have never had in 20 years where we lose game after game. That is more important.

“We have a big fight to finish in the top four – it will be very difficult now.

“If we don’t do it we have to live with the consequences.”
