I wish to add the thoughts and condolences of Islington Conservatives to the family of Ben Kinsella, who was tragically killed in our borough on June 29. Ben is the 17th young person to die on the streets of London this year alone. I also commend the march in Upper Street of so many young people from our borough to say that enough is enough.

Islington Council needs to redouble its efforts to work with the Metropolitan Police to put an end to the knife crime among our young people which is blighting our neighbourhood. It is also time that the council did everything they can to co-operate with Mayor of London Boris Johnson to make the streets of Islington and London safer for all of us.

- Simon Toms, deputy chairman, Islington Conservatives.
