I am writing in protest against the devastating cuts Islington is making in the voluntary sector.

I live and work in the borough, and am employed by a women’s organisation to support women at high risk from domestic violence. Our service has seen repeat victimisation fall, and other favourable outcomes for women at risk and their children.

We have now been told that our funding will be cut by 66 per cent from April. Meanwhile, Bob Diamond of Barclays gets a bonus that would fund the service I work in for 30 years – I find this obscene.

I implore Islington to look again at the cuts – it wasn’t the voluntary sector who got us into this mess.
